Here is a little about Me!

Silvia Valdez-Mistry, LCSW

Hello, I am Silvia, a Licensed Therapist in California.

I offer online therapy for women throughout various stages of their life. My specializations include perinatal mental health, healing from trauma, depression, anxiety, loss, child development, and parenting. I’m deeply connected to working with women who are trying to conceive, prenatal and postpartum mothers, unplanned pregnancy, and women facing the decision to have an abortion or adoption. I have provided therapy to a range of populations and in multiple settings. As a therapist, my goal is to help my clients achieve mental wellness and reach their life goals. I provide therapy to adults and children from diverse backgrounds and also provide therapy in English and Spanish.

My Approach

My role as your therapist is to provide a safe supportive space where you can explore and reflect on areas in your life that may need attention. My approach is integrative, holistic, and tailored to meet your individual needs and goals. Together we will work on ways to decrease the negative thoughts and feelings that may be impacting your life or keeping you stuck in unhealthy patterns. We will also work on developing coping skills in order to help you overcome challenges and make positive life changes.

I pull from a number of evidence-based therapy modalities which include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy  (CBT), and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT). As women, we are pulled in so many directions with all the responsibilities that we take on. Finding a balance between your life as a mother, partner, daughter, friend, and professional is not out of your reach. If you want to feel like a better version of yourself again, I’d love to help you get there.

Why I Became a Therapist

Therapy has always been a passion of mine; understanding human behavior piqued my curiosity as a young adult. Being on the other side of the chair showed me how powerful therapy can be in understanding myself and achieving long-lasting change. I have provided therapy to a range of populations and in multiple settings, including foster youth in a large metropolitan area, crisis intervention at a medical clinic, and trauma-focused therapy to children and families at a community mental health center. I have also facilitated and developed support groups for postpartum women, children, teens, parents, and domestic violence survivors. As a therapist, my objective is to help my clients achieve mental wellbeing.

My Background

I received both a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Social Welfare (MSW) from UCLA. While in graduate school, I completed my internships in community mental health and child welfare. I have provided counseling to a range of populations and in multiple settings, from foster youth in LA County to Depression Care Management and crisis intervention at Kaiser Permanente. I have also facilitated and developed support groups for postpartum women, children, teens, parents, and domestic violence survivors. I am mindful that each client has their own unique needs and base my holistic approach on different treatment modalities to produce positive change. Together we will work on ways to decrease the negative thoughts and feelings that you are currently dealing with. We will also work on developing coping skills in order for you to manage the day to day stress of being a mother.
